Event Producer - Brighton

The Psychedelic Society is seeking an experienced Brighton-based Event Producer to develop ambitious, commercially successful events exploring psychedelics, consciousness, psychology and human transformation.

Since 2014, The Psychedelic Society has welcomed more than 10,000 people to talks, workshops, retreats and community events designed to educate, connect and inspire.

This is not a typical events role. The Society is looking for someone with the confidence, ambition and vision to identify exceptional speakers, build relationships with leading practitioners, recognise emerging trends and create events that people genuinely want to attend.

You will be as comfortable approaching internationally recognised speakers as you are discovering the next generation of influential voices.

Applicants should be based in Brighton and available for approximately two days per week from September onwards.

Event production

You will take ownership of events from the initial idea through to successful delivery. Your responsibilities will include:

• Identifying emerging themes, ideas and opportunities

• Researching and securing exceptional speakers

• Building relationships with recognised experts and influential practitioners

• Negotiating commercial agreements

• Finding and booking suitable venues

• Managing event budgets and financial performance

• Creating event listings and supporting ticket sales

• Working with the marketing team to promote events

• Coordinating logistics before and during delivery

• Reviewing event performance and identifying opportunities for growth

You will produce experiences ranging from intimate workshops to large public talks and conferences.

Programme development

Alongside producing your own events, you will coordinate events delivered by external facilitators and organisations.

Acting as a hosting and listing partner, you will identify outstanding practitioners, support them in bringing events to The Psychedelic Society’s platform and collaborate on marketing and promotion to maximise attendance and reach.

You will become an ambassador for The Psychedelic Society within the wider wellbeing and consciousness community.

Audience development

A core part of the role is reaching people who may be curious about psychedelics and consciousness but are not currently connected to established alternative or underground communities.

You will identify underserved audiences, build meaningful partnerships and create events that appeal to both the Society’s existing community and those discovering it for the first time.

Success will be measured not only by the number of events produced, but also by your ability to develop relationships, grow loyal audiences and strengthen The Psychedelic Society’s position as a trusted cultural organisation.

The Society is seeking commercially viable events that introduce fresh perspectives and help shape the future of science, wellbeing, culture and consciousness.

Essential experience

• Demonstrable event production experience

• Experience managing projects independently

• Experience negotiating with speakers, venues or collaborators

• Strong copywriting skills

• Social media and event marketing experience

• Excellent organisational and communication skills

• Confidence using online ticketing platforms and event software

• The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• A commercially minded and entrepreneurial approach

• Confidence approaching established speakers and influential people

• The ability to remain calm under pressure

• An interest in psychedelics, psychology, neuroscience, wellbeing or consciousness

• Based in Brighton and able to support the delivery of local events

This role is not suitable for someone seeking their first experience in events. The successful applicant should be confident independently developing commercially successful events from concept through to delivery.

Training and onboarding

Onboarding will take place over approximately six to eight weeks during September and October, totalling around 28 hours.

The training period is paid at £420 and will introduce you to the Society’s systems, processes, marketing approach and event-delivery framework.

Commission structure

Following onboarding, the role becomes fully commission-based.

You will receive an agreed percentage of the net profit generated by each event you coordinate. Net profit is calculated after agreed expenses, such as venue hire, speaker fees and other approved costs, have been deducted.

Current coordinators typically earn approximately £800 to £3,000 or more per month, depending on the scale, frequency and success of their events. Earnings are not guaranteed and there is potential for growth as your programme expands.

Expected event programme

You will be expected to produce:

• At least one flagship event with 70 or more attendees each quarter

• One to two smaller events with approximately 20 to 30 attendees each month

Hours and meetings

The role requires approximately two days per week, although the workload will fluctuate according to the event schedule.

You will have considerable flexibility in organising your working hours and will attend two team meetings each month, held every other Wednesday afternoon.
