Event Producer - Bristol

The Psychedelic Society is seeking a Bristol-based Event Producer to create inspiring events exploring psychedelics, consciousness and human transformation, while helping to expand its wider programme of facilitators and collaborators.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape one of the UK’s leading platforms exploring psychedelics, consciousness and human transformation.

As Event Producer, you will help bring world-class ideas, teachers, researchers and practitioners to The Psychedelic Society’s community. The position combines creative event production with strategic coordination, giving you the opportunity to develop flagship experiences while growing a thriving network of facilitators and collaborators.

You will take ownership of events from initial concept through to successful delivery. This will include identifying compelling themes, approaching internationally recognised speakers and emerging thought leaders, negotiating agreements, sourcing venues, coordinating logistics and ticketing, supporting promotional campaigns and overseeing events on the day.

Events may range from intimate talks and workshops to conferences and immersive experiences. Potential subject areas include psychedelic science, neuroscience, consciousness research, psychology, philosophy, spirituality, ecology and related fields.

Alongside producing flagship events, you will help expand The Psychedelic Society’s national programme by identifying exceptional facilitators, educators, practitioners and organisations already delivering outstanding work. You will build relationships with these collaborators and support them in hosting events through the Society’s platform.

Rather than producing every event independently, you will help curate a varied programme showcasing leading voices and practices from across the psychedelic and consciousness ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Develop original event concepts, themes and formats

• Identify and approach speakers, educators, facilitators and practitioners

• Build relationships with relevant organisations and collaborators

• Negotiate speaker, facilitator and partnership agreements

• Source and book suitable venues

• Coordinate event logistics, schedules and ticketing

• Collaborate with the marketing team on promotional campaigns

• Oversee events from planning through to delivery

• Support external facilitators in hosting events through The Psychedelic Society

• Help curate a diverse national programme

• Monitor event performance, attendance and profitability

• Attend twice-monthly team meetings and occasional ad hoc meetings

Event expectations

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver:

• At least one large-scale event with 70 or more attendees per quarter

• One to two smaller events with approximately 20 to 40 attendees each month

These are minimum expectations, with scope to develop a larger programme as your experience, confidence and network grow.

Training and onboarding

Training and onboarding will take place over approximately eight weeks during September and October, totalling 28 hours.

This period is paid at £420 and is designed to introduce you to The Psychedelic Society’s systems, processes and approach to producing and coordinating events.

During onboarding, you will independently develop and organise one event from concept to completion, with opportunities to receive feedback and workshop your plans with the team.

Commission structure

Following the training period, the position will become fully commission based.

You will receive a percentage of the net profit generated by each event you coordinate. Net profit is calculated after agreed expenses, including venue hire, speaker or facilitator fees and other approved event costs, have been deducted.

Earnings will depend on the scale, frequency and success of your events. The Psychedelic Society anticipates potential earnings of approximately £800 to £3,000 per month, although this may vary according to your event programme.

Hours and working arrangements

This is a flexible, part-time freelance position requiring approximately two days per week on average.

You will have autonomy over how you organise your working hours, although the workload will naturally fluctuate according to the planning and delivery of events.

You must also be available for two team meetings each month. These take place every other Wednesday afternoon.
